Demi Lovato PARADE interview: 'People say sticks and stones may break your bones, but names can never hurt you, but that's not true. Words can hurt. They hurt me. Things were said to me that I still haven't forgotten.
I'm so lucky to work with the organizations I'm involved with and, honestly, giving back is one of the most rewarding aspects of my career. If you can touch just one life, it's all worth it. I've partnered with PACER's 'Teens Against Bullying' for years and it's a great place where you can find tips and helpful information on bullying and what you can do to stop it. I'm confident we can make a difference.'
Advice to teens? 'Work really hard and never give up. I'm so incredibly blessed to be able to get to do what I love every day, but there are always ups and downs in everything and you have to stick with it, even through rough patches.'
On sister Madison Delagarza: 'I'm so proud of my little sister and all she has accomplished so far. I always remind her to try and focus on the positive things in life. This can be a rough industry at times, but as long as you're confident in who you are, that's what's really important.''
On competition with other stars: 'I think being in the same business actually helps us relate to each other because we go through the same experiences. It helps to have people to talk to who really get it because they have been there before. I try to ignore gossip as much as possible and focus on positive things in my life.'
